Philip Morris doubles Kutna Hora plant investment to more than Kc2bn

Kutna Hora, Central Bohemia, Sept 15 (CTK) - Philip Morris International will double its investment in the Kutna Hora plant to start production of nicotine pouches to more than Kc2bn, and the investment will create up to 150 new jobs, the tobacco company told CTK today.

The originally planned production capacity of nicotine pouches will also more than double, and their production is scheduled to begin early next year.

The original investment in the Kutna Hora plant was projected at Kc1bn.

Such a significant increase in investment is further evidence of the global management's confidence in the Kutna Hora team and also reflects the growing demand for this category of lower-risk nicotine products, said Fabio Costa, board chairman and CEO of Philip Morris in the Czech Republic.

The Kutna Hora plant becomes the key pillar of Philip Morris International's European production of smoke-free products, said the Czech branch. This is part of the company's strategy to offer nicotine users a wide range of alternatives with the proven or potentially lower risk than traditional cigarettes.

The transformation is not only technological, but also cultural, as the company is changing the way it thinks about production and its impact on society, and is bringing long-term stability to the city and the region, said Serhan Kilic, director of the Kutna Hora plant.
